About WordPress Sites
WordPress sites are the latest super-heros in the web site universe, and most often that's what I will suggest as a platform to create a new web site. In existence for eight years, it is a robust web site architecture that began life as do-it-yourself blogging software for the masses. It has since matured nicely, allowing for installation of custom templates & plug-ins to add versatility. One of the many important features is that, once configured, it allows multiple users to collaborate— each creating their own articles and the ability to make changes. That means you, or I, or a whole office can write, post, and update your own web site! That's very cool. The folks at NY Times and People magazine adamantly agree on its usefulness, as their sites— and thousands more in the business and government sector, worldwide— are now deployed on the WordPress platform.
Another advantage to WordPress, being nimble and aggressively updated, is that the platform can be optimized to be viewed correctly on many platforms— your standard web browser, on an iPad, and on mobile devices. It is no longer necessary to have different sites for different platforms. Reason enough to upgrade your aging site!
Some of my most recent clients have opted for converting their sites to WordPress in order to take advantage of the collaboration features and to be able to do their own updates. No longer is the web site hostage to one person making updates. If you can create a Word document you can do WordPress.
We and WordPress itself advocate the DIY mentality. But, to take advantage of the most advanced features, we have found that what works best is to let us do the installation and customization for you. Once it's all set up, just they way you like it, you're good to go. Our custom-tailored process also includes basic training for you of particular features to get the most out of all that your custom WordPress has to offer.
For those not inclined to hands-on management of their web site, a modern WordPress site with all its bells-n-whistles created and maintained by Webworks is still the best way to proceed. In either case, I am ready to consult and strategize the best possible solution for you.
